What we do
DOWNSIZE UP is a service that takes the pain out of the daunting job of scaling down. Moving house can be overwhelming even at the best of times; even more so when it involves sorting through possessions and memories accumulated over a lifetime. Sometimes you just need someone to help you step through the process. And that’s where Downsize Up comes in. Simply put, we project-manage every aspect of downsizing – from decision making and sorting to arranging for the sale, distribution or storage of your possessions right through to helping you settle into your new home.
WHO WE ARE
DOWNSIZE UP is headed by me, Maryanne Clegg. I recently made the switch from nurturing creative talent in young people to helping older adults to re-envision their home spaces. In my toolkit, I have skills gleaned from years working in education, literacy and the arts. Having curated and directed exhibitions and performances, I am practiced at reconfiguring space. I also have experience dealing in antique, vintage and collectable items, so am well positioned to provide direction in this regard too. Storytelling is an important part of my vision. I want to help you lighten your load but without making such a clean sweep of it that you lose parts of who you are. Your legacy and memories matter – I’m here to help you shape them.

HOW IT WORKS
DOWNSIZE UP offers three sequential modules
Working on the assumption that individual needs and budgets differ, we understand that there might be some things that you want to do yourselves. You may want to purchase all the modules offered or choose just one or two. You decide! Regardless of which modules are purchased, you – and/or a key family member – will need to book an initial introductory conversation so that we can assess what your needs are and see how big the ultimate job will be. From there, you may choose to sign on for our services, or we can advise you on the steps you’ll need to take, drawing on the resources you already have.

PRICING
Modules have fixed prices based on small, medium and large jobs. We will need to assess the size of your space and the volume of goods before providing a final quotation.
*Note that additional fees are billable for packaging (e.g. bubble wrap/boxes) and transport. We charge a 15% commission for facilitating third-party services, such as moving companies, plumbers or handymen. Likewise, we charge a 15% commission on total sales at auction houses, should you follow this route.
